What a Digital Marketing Strategist Does for Your Business Or Nonprofit
The Core Of What We Do And Why We Do It
Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.
What is a Digital Marketing Strategist?
A digital marketing strategist diagnoses your business before recommending any platform, campaign, or rebuild. They figure out who you serve, what makes you different, and whether your website, search, social, ads, and AI presence are working together to reach those people. Then they set priorities and make sure the work happens in the right order. This builds efficiency.
Most businesses and nonprofits don't need more marketing activity. They need someone to connect the activity they already have to the results they want. That's the job. That makes it efficient.
A digital marketer runs channels. A strategist decides which channels matter, in what order, and how you'll know they're working. Read more on the difference.
At Anuncier, the starting point is what we call the Digital Clarity Gap: the disconnect between who a business actually is and how it shows up online.

Why We Start With Strategy
Producing with Purpose

A few years ago, my boss was under pressure from the rest of the management team. The complaint was that marketing wasn't "producing enough." I was asked to get the team generating more campaigns and more collateral.
When I asked what was needed and how it supported our strategy, I got confusion and some resistance. We produced anyway: sales sheets, social posts, a steady stream of new material. Internally, it looked like a win.
The results told a different story. The posts got almost no engagement. The sales materials were used once or twice and forgotten. Worse, the time spent producing pulled us away from the digital and inbound work that had been generating leads. Leads dropped, which created pressure to produce even more. That cycle contributed to real consequences, including people on the team losing their jobs.
The lesson stuck with me. We didn't have a strategy, and it cost us. Effective marketing isn't about producing more. It's about producing with purpose. That's why every Anuncier engagement starts with strategy.
How We Work

We diagnose before we prescribe. Before we touch a tactic, we learn your mission, your customers, and what makes you different. Then we align your digital marketing with your business goals, not the other way around.
We measure what pays the bills. Impressions and likes don't. We track leads, bookings, conversions, and revenue. One Ocean City tour operator we work with grew revenue from about $226K in 2021 to about $638K in 2025.
Strategy that gets executed. We don't hand you a binder and wish you luck. Think of us as a general contractor for your digital presence: we draw the blueprint, then make sure your team, your vendors, and our network of specialists build it correctly.
One client per sector. For ongoing engagements, we work with one business per industry in each market, so your strategy never competes with another client's. One-time engagements like the Digital Strategy Blueprint and Digital Strategy Kickoff don't count against this.

What a Digital Marketing Strategy Includes
Every strategy looks different because every business is different. Most include these pieces:
-
Goals. Awareness, leads, bookings, revenue, or a mix, with numbers attached.
-
Audience. Who you're trying to reach and where they look for help.
-
Positioning. How you stand apart from competitors and alternatives.
-
Value proposition. The specific value you offer, in words your customers use.
-
Channel priorities. Which channels matter now, which can wait, and which to stop.
-
Measurement. How you'll know it's working, tied to revenue rather than activity.
Already have some of this in place? Good. We'll refine what you have instead of starting over. See our digital marketing strategy services for how engagements work.
